RELEASING YOUR DESTINY

GENESIS 24:12-20, 54-58

"Then he prayed, “ Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.” Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again. The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.” “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink. After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels."

54-58 "Then he and the men who were with him ate and drank and spent the night there. When they got up the next morning, he said, “Send me on my way to my master.” But her brother and her mother replied, “Let the young woman remain with us ten days or so; then you may go.” But he said to them, “Do not detain me, now that the Lord has granted success to my journey. Send me on my way so I may go to my master.” Then they said, “Let’s call the young woman and ask her about it.” So they called Rebekah and asked her, “Will you go with this man?” “I will go,” she said."


God has a plan and a destiny for each and everyone of us. His will for our lives will bring us more joy, happiness, prosperity, fulfillment, and success than we will experience doing anything else.

But how do we release God's will into our lives?


FIVE STEPS TO RELEASING YOUR DESTINY


I. DON'T DESPISE SMALL THINGS

Faithfulness in small things bring huge rewards.

God sees the small things even when others do not. He sees when we are faithful in the small things.

Luke 10:16 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much."

Remember, big doors swing on little hinges.

Rebecca didn't despise the chore of retrieving water for her family everyday.

Zechariah 4:10 “Who dares despise the day of small things,"

Doing that small task brought about a great reward.

God will do it for you too.


II. DON'T WAIT FOR THE BIG MOMENTS

Big moments don't come to people who wait for big moments.

Big moments are a result of being faithful in little, insignificant moments of doing routine, menial and unglamorous things that aren't really exciting.

When it was time for Rebecca to go get water, she didn't skip out of her chores and go downtown hoping something big would happen to her.

She did what she knew she was suppose to do and her destiny found her.

Your path to greatness in The Lord is doing the small things with all your might.

When you simply wait for the big things in life, you normally wait in the wrong place.


III. HELP PEOPLE

When Abraham's servant asked Rebecca for a drink, Rebecca didn't preach him a sermon.

She didn't quote him a scripture.

She didn't pray a prayer of faith.

She didn't gather a panel of people together to take a vote.

She simply helped him.

That in itself is a great witness.

We don't have to be super-spiritual Christians. Why don't we just be loving Christians, A nice person, and help people.

She simply gave a stranger some water.

Matthew 25:40. “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

When you do something for God, you can be sure He will notice.


IV. DO YOUR BEST AND THEN SOME

Matthew 5:41-42 "If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you."

Here's the key. You can't go the second mile until you've finished the first mile.

Most people want the recognition and glory of going the second mile without doing the first mile. It doesn't work like that.

Rebecca was asked for a drink of water. Rebecca gave him water and then gave water to his camels.

Let's think about this for a moment.

Camels are not small animals. Abraham's servant had ten camels.

To water ten camels would have taken about four hundred gallons of water. That's no easy task.

Talk about going the extra mile.

When you help someone with their dream, God will reveal your dream to you.


V. WHEN GOD OPENS THE DOOR, WALK THROUGH IT

When God opens a door, and an opportunity comes your way, stand up, step up, and walk through the door. God will go with you.

In the story of Rebecca, Abraham's servant said, come with me. You will be the bride of Isaac.

Rebecca's brother and Mother said, "Give us about ten days."

Abrahams servant responded "Come now or you'll miss it."

How many people have not walked through a door that God has opened because they didn't feel qualified or good enough, or they felt like they didn't have what it takes to be successful.

Maybe you have felt like that. Maybe you thought somebody else could do better than me.

NO!!!!! Don't think that. Don't say that.

God will more than make up for what you don't have.

He will make up for abilities that you don't yet possess.

His anointing, His Spirit will enable you.

When God opens a door for you, walk through it, because evidently He's seen you doing what is required and then some.

When you do your part, when you give extra effort, it will always open doors for you.

Don't worry about if someone else is getting all the glory and all the credit right now.

You keep doing your part. If you do that your moment of greatness is coming.

Do your part on the natural side, and God will do His part on the supernatural side.


CONCLUSION

Why is it important to want God's destiny and will for your life?

God's destiny for your life will always be greater than your own.

Ephesians 3:20 "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,"
