First Kings chapter six, tells about Solomon building the temple of the Lord. God had spoken to David that his son Solomon would build it. As you read the description of the temple, you get a sense and a mental picture of its beauty and its detail. What an amazing and glorious place to worship it must have been. The Bible tells us that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit.
I Corinthians 6:19 “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;”
God designed you and your life in such a way as to bring glory and honor to Him. You are filled with beauty and His likeness both inside and out. It doesn’t matter if you’re tall, short, skinny, too short for your weight, dark hair, light hair, what color eyes you have, or what you do for a living. You are a beautiful and glorious temple of God.
Psalm 139:14 “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
When you read First Kings chapter six, you discover how expensive and valuable the temple was. Carved stone, cedar and juniper wood, and gold throughout. In today’s world the temple would have been valued in millions of dollars. You are no different. You are highly valued to God. I know, you are not perfect. None of us are, yet you are still God’s most valued possession.
You have been wounded, scarred, broken, and beat down like everyone, but your scars and your brokenness do not decrease your value in God’s eyes. It increases your value to the Kingdom of God. You are valuable to Him. You are the apple of His eye.
The detail of the temple was amazing and eye popping. Check this out.
“Solomon covered the inside of the temple with pure gold, and he extended gold chains across the front of the inner sanctuary, which was overlaid with gold. So he overlaid the whole interior with gold. He also overlaid with gold the altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary. For the inner sanctuary he made a pair of cherubim out of olive wood, each ten cubits high. One wing of the first cherub was five cubits long, and the other wing five cubits—ten cubits from wing tip to wing tip. The second cherub also measured ten cubits, for the two cherubim were identical in size and shape. The height of each cherub was ten cubits. He placed the cherubim inside the innermost room of the temple, with their wings spread out. The wing of one cherub touched one wall, while the wing of the other touched the other wall, and their wings touched each other in the middle of the room. He overlaid the cherubim with gold. On the walls all around the temple, in both the inner and outer rooms, he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers. He also covered the floors of both the inner and outer rooms of the temple with gold. For the entrance to the inner sanctuary he made doors out of olive wood that were one fifth of the width of the sanctuary. And on the two olive-wood doors he carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid the cherubim and palm trees with hammered gold. In the same way, for the entrance to the main hall he made doorframes out of olive wood that were one fourth of the width of the hall. He also made two doors out of juniper wood, each having two leaves that turned in sockets. He carved cherubim, palm trees and open flowers on them and overlaid them with gold hammered evenly over the carvings. And he built the inner courtyard of three courses of dressed stone and one course of trimmed cedar beams.”

Wow!!! That is so awesome! The detail of the temple must have been the topic of conversations to everyone who saw it. What a sight to behold.
It is the same with the details of your life. Jeremiah 29:11 says God has great plans for us. The Psalmist writes if he were to count the number of plans God has for us they would outnumber the grains of sand (Psalm 139:17-18).
God has so many amazing things in store for you, and He has planned and designed them with amazing detail.
Psalm 37:23 “The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Be encouraged today. You may be going through a tough time today, but God is taking care of some details in your life. In the temple, the stone had to be carved, the wood has to be cut, and the gold had to be heated, beaten, and molded to be just right. You may feel like your being carved up, cut, going through the fire and being beaten right now, but through it God is making everything about your life just like He wants and needs you to be right down to the smallest detail. The end result will be a mind-blowing and incredible sight to behold. So put your trust in the Lord while you embrace the process of Him hammering out the details of your life. Even when it’s tough, depend fully on Him to finish what He started. You’ll be glad you did. The final product will be amazing!
