Early Wednesday morning I woke up and began to worship and talk with the Lord. While in prayer I had a vision of a great field with wide open skies above. It was sunny with a breeze. It was a beautiful day.
Suddenly the field was full of people. Everyone was dressed comfortably and casually. Each person was holding a spool of string. As I looked up into the sky, it was full of brightly colored kites. Every kind of color you can imagine. Some of the kites had long tails, while others had no tail at all.
The people were having a good time flying their kites. There was a smile on each face. Each person was looking up and making comment on how beautiful their kite was. The atmosphere was pleasant and quite enjoyable.
The Lord asked me what I thought of the scene. I told Him I thought it was wonderful. Then He asked me what was wrong with what I was seeing. “I don’t know.” I said. "It all looks wonderful."
“Look at the spools of string,” the Lord told me. I looked and saw every spool was extremely full of string. Big wads of string filled every hand. I told the Lord, “That’s a lot of string.” The Lord began to reveal the meaning of the vision. “The sky is the limit, which means their is no limit in me. The kites are the gifts that I have placed within my people. They are beautiful and attractive gifts. Gifts that will draw thousands of people. The string is the potential of how high they can fly with their gifts. The problem is the low altitude at which the kites are flying. The higher the kite flies, the more people can see it and enjoy the beauty of it. I have given the potential to my people to soar to heights they have never dreamed, but they are comfortable with the height they are flying at. It allows them to be in full control. They are not comfortable letting out the string because the higher the kite soars, the less in control they feel. My people have grown comfortable and content with where they currently are in the gifts and their ministry. I am calling them to reach their full potential through the power of my Holy Spirit.”
“Let It out! Let the string out! Let them soar!” I began to shout.
“No!” One man responded. “The wind gets stronger the higher you go. It’s too difficult to control way up there. It’s easier at this altitude.”
The vision ended and the Lord told me, “Tell my people, ‘Let the string out. Use it all. Soar! Fly high! By faith and on the wind of the Holy Spirit, fly high! Get out of your comfort zone, and what you know. Step into the unknown and give God full control. He will not allow the wind of the world to overtake you if you will trust in Him. It is time to reach for the dream God has put inside you. It is time to step into your God given destiny. For those who dare to fly higher and live in the fullness of their potential God has given, He will use to reach the world!’”
