When I was a kid I heard the phrase “the skies seem brass above us.” I never knew what that meant until I was older and began to understand the importance of prayer. Brass skies” is a term describing the feeling of your prayers not getting through to God or when it seems as though God does not hear your cries for help.
Have you ever felt that way? You’ve prayed! You’ve praised! You’ve declared the Word over your life! You continue to worship! You’re faithful to church! You’re faithful in your giving to the Lord! You’re doing it all right, but it seems everything is going wrong and it is as if God does not hear your prayers or your crying out in the middle of the night.
I know you’ve been there. We’ve all experienced brass skies a time or two in our lives. Let me assure you, however, that God does indeed hear your cries for help! He hears every shout of praise. He sees every fallen tear in an emotional time of worship and prayer. He feels the pain and the hurt in your heart. He knows where you are and what you’re going through. He most definitely has not forgotten you. He remembers you. After all, you are unforgettable because He created you. The Bible is packed full of promises from our Heavenly Father. Our Abba. When you’re in that state of feeling like God is not paying attention to you, here is a great promise to remember.
“Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all of his chosen ones who cry out to him night and day? He will pour out his Spirit upon them. He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for.” Luke 18:7 TPT
A few days ago, I was in a time of worship when I had a vision of brass skies. As I continued to worship, holes were being blown open in the clouds and sun rays began to shine through. More and more holes appeared in the clouds the more I worshipped. It was as if my worship was machine gun fire and every bullet pierced through the brass sky. In my vision I knew if I continued to worship the clouds would be completely decimated. It’s not always easy to worship when your life is falling apart. It’s not easy to praise Him when you’d rather call the person that’s hurt you and rip them with some choice words. It’s not always easy to lift your hands to the Lord in adoration when what you’d really like to do is lay your hands on somebody without praying for them. Yet praise and worship has the power to demolish strongholds, obliterate attacks, turn your situation around, and build your faith. I believe we have entered a time where the brass skies above us are being blown apart and the Son is beginning to shine through on you. I believe that those holes in the former brass skies will also serve as Heavenly portals that the Heavenly host will soar through to bring blessings, miracles, and answers to prayers. In addition to what praise can do for you, you can have the assurance that God is working for you. God is always working for you.
“Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” John 5:17 NIV
Rest assured, that right now, at this very moment, our Father is working for you. You may not see Him, but He’s working. You may not hear Him, but He’s speaking. You may not feel Him, but He is moving. Trust Him!
“Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.” Psalm 43:5 NIV
Lift up your head! Lift up a shout of praise! Put your hope and your trust in God! HE WILL NOT FAIL YOU! HE IS FAITHFUL!
